I did quite some winter hiking summiting many peaks in New England before this book was published. Reading this book still expanded my knowledge. The authors are avid hikers as well as leaders for youth hiking and camping. The content of this book is from their own experience making this book very readable, relevant and practical.Like many other outdoor educational literature, this book provides very conservative instructions that even people with limited fitness and no experience can follow to minimize risks. The most important factor of safety - physical condition - is not discussed at all.
